Sergeant Major Jon R. Cavaiani U.S. Army (Ret.)

Medal of Honor, ex-POW Vietnam

“If I were to offer my advice about a creed or code of conduct for life and about success and significance, I would offer the advice given to me by my father. When I asked him how he became a success, he told me, ‘Honesty and making the right decision were the major factors that helped me through life.’ He also said that before he made a decision to do something, he asked himself three simple questions: ‘Will what I do hurt my family? Will it hurt my friends? And lastly, will it hurt myself? If I can answer yes to any of these questions, I don’t do it.’ He believed your word is your bond. I have lived by these words throughout my life.”
